Composed of nine distinct neighborhoods—Armatage, East Harriet, Fulton, Kenny, King Field, Linden Hills, Lynnhurst, Tangletown, and Windom—Southwest Minneapolis offers a picturesque backdrop and lots of retail and restaurants. Each of these quaint districts is within walking distance to parks, lakes, and outdoor recreation areas along Lake Harriet, Bde Maka Ska or Minnehaha Creek.

Quiet and affluent, this largely residential area has higher home values than the rest of the city, and many residents commute to Downtown, allowing for a peaceful suburban existence with many metropolitan amenities within reach.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping 

There’s an eclectic mix of dining options in Southwest Minneapolis. Local favorites include George and the Dragon, a low key bar with craft beers on tap and plenty of fried fare and sandwiches; Our Kitchen, an 80-year-old restaurant serving traditional American breakfast and lunch grub including omelets and coffee; Pat's Tap, a laid-back gastropub offering an international pub-grub menu, plus a patio and Skee-Ball; and Pizzeria Lola, a modern pizzeria that offers creative wood-fired pies with Korean flair and a menu of global wines.

Things to Do

Southwest Minneapolis contributes to Minnesota’s “Land of 10,000 Lakes” designation, providing beauty and popular recreation at its Lake Harriet. From late May through early September, the Lake’s Bandshell Park plays host to musical acts from all over the world, and residents of Southwest Minneapolis regularly explore this area on bikes or via walking trails.
