Welcome to Eden Prairie

Located in close proximity to the Minneapolis–St. Paul Metro Area and featuring a number of attractive residential neighborhoods, Eden Prairie offers the charming feel of a small town while providing big city amenities.

Recognized as a great place to work and raise a family by Money magazine, the city has consistently placed in the publication’s list of "Best Places to Live," earning the number one spot in 2010.

More than 62,000 residents call Eden Prairie home, and there are close to 3,000 businesses located within. The city also boasts nearly 10,000 acres of land designated for parks and open spaces, plenty of scenic views, and numerous lakes and beaches. There are award-winning restaurants and retail and lots of recreational facilities.

The majority of Eden Prairie properties are single-family dwellings, but there are also many large apartment buildings and townhouses. Most houses contain between two and four bedrooms, and the median list price is $429K.

There’s a diverse population within Eden Prairie which is composed of many income groups. Home to the affluent gated community Bearpath, there’s also a strong working and middle class here—each group favors Eden Prairie’s slow-paced environment. 

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping 

Dining options abound in Eden Prairie. Local favorites include Lions Tap, which is regarded as having one of the best burgers in the state. 

At
Tavern 4&5, classic pub fare is served alongside a wide range of local tap beer, and Campiello wows with a fine-dining version of Tuscan country cooking.
 
Redstone American Grill is another high-end Eden Prairie favorite—their steaks, shared plates, and wood-fired flatbreads are some of the restaurant’s can’t-miss offerings.

Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is big in Eden Prairie, and residents enjoy a wealth of walking trails around Purgatory Creek, Staring Lake, and the Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail. Round Lake Park and Beach features an ice-hockey rink, a skate park, and a boat ramp. Interested in the history of aviation? Make sure to also visit the Wings of the North Aircraft Museum at Flying Cloud Airport.

Schools

Eden Prairie is home to a number of excellent schools. 

  • The area’s Independent School District 272 serves more than 10,000 students and is regularly among the top-performing districts on statewide assessment tests and the SAT and ACT college entrance examinations. 
  • The International School of Minnesota is a private, PK-12 college preparatory school located on a 55-acre campus in Eden Prairie. It has been long recognized by premier colleges and universities for its outstanding academic achievement.
  • The Performing Institute of Minnesota Arts High School is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades 9-12 that offers music, theater, and dance classes.
